Job Summary
Nurse graduates that are board eligible will work under direct supervision of an RN on 5 South (Adult Acute Care Hematology/Oncology). Upon orientation and demonstrated competency, they provide direct and indirect patient care as overseen by the RN, contributing to unit operations until Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure is obtained. Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with treatments and procedures, basic hygiene, specimen handling, patient positioning, charging and cost-effective equipment usage, dietary assistance, infection control adherence, and participation in continuing education/in-service programs. Requirements include an Associate's degree or higher in Nursing/Diploma and obtaining a valid nursing license within 120 days of hire. The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies.
