Job Summary
Conduct judicial depositions of petitioners, respondents, and witnesses in accordance with canonical norms, administer oaths, and transcribe testimonies accurately. Prepare libelli for marriage nullity cases by meeting with petitioners to gather factual history and required documentation, then review all materials for procedural sufficiency. Enter and maintain accurate case information in Canonical Tribunal Systems, answer case inquiries, and schedule depositions while coordinating communications with parties and advocates. This full-time role requires canonical competence and pastoral sensitivity, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM. The position supports the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Newark in the orderly administration of justice within marriage nullity causes.
Required Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church and in good moral standing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent transcription accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in standard office software
- Ability to exercise discretion and pastoral sensitivity in confidential matters
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Monday - Friday, 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM
- 35 hours weekly
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- studies in Canon Law, Theology, or related discipline preferred
