Job Summary
Audit & Accounting Manager at Baker Tilly leads audit engagements for private company clients, develops audit plans, ensures compliance with accounting standards (ASPE) and regulations, analyzes financial statements, and mentors audit teams. Responsibilities include client communication, quality assurance, WIP and budget monitoring, continuous improvement of methodologies, and staying current on auditing practices and relevant pronouncements. Requires CPA/CA designation and 1-2 years of management experience in public accounting with private company exposure; proficiency with Caseware, Taxprep/Profile and Excel; strong leadership, organizational and communication skills. Location: Vancouver, BC; Hybrid work arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA)
- At least 1-2 years of management experience at a progressive public accounting firm, with significant emphasis on private company clients
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing audit engagements for private companies
- Thorough ASPE knowledge and application of relevant professional standards, regulations and corporate governance requirements
- Familiarity with and exposure to Canadian Tax
- The ability to provide value-added service to our clients
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment, including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
- Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced computer knowledge including Caseware, Taxprep or Profile and Excel
