Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive hearing screenings and audiological evaluations for students across multiple Alexandria City Public Schools locations. Assess students for hearing loss, auditory processing concerns, and educational needs, then interpret test results to prepare written evaluation reports. Make recommendations regarding classroom accommodations, assistive listening technology, and educational supports while participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, special education personnel, and families regarding classroom acoustics and communication strategies. Monitor students with identified hearing impairments, assist with hearing assistive technology maintenance, and coordinate with medical providers as needed. Maintain accurate student records, complete required reports and service logs, and travel between assigned school locations to manage the caseload.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Audiology
- Current Virginia Audiology license or eligibility for Virginia licensure
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel between multiple school locations during the workday
- Knowledge of special education processes and IEP requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a school, pediatric, clinical, or educational setting
- Experience providing audiological services in a public-school environment
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and educational accommodations
- Experience with hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM/DM systems, and other assistive listening devices
- Pediatric audiology experience
- Bilingual skills
