Job Summary
Set up, operate, and maintain audio and video equipment at events, conferences, meetings, and venues while ensuring smooth functionality and the luxury standard of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Provide excellent customer service by assisting with equipment operation, answering client questions, and testing all gear on the floor before each function. Remove equipment after events, keep the office and gear clean, and ensure floor equipment is secure. Contact vendors for additional needs and immediately report special requests or guest problems to the Audio Visual Assistant Manager, Banquet Captain, or Director of Banquets. Work scheduled days and hours varying based on departmental needs, including occasional evenings or weekends. Maintain a cooperative team attitude, adhere to all policies, and climb a 14-foot ladder to hang lights as required.
Required Qualifications
- An associate or bachelor's degree in audio visual technology
- Excellent computer proficiency
- In-depth working knowledge of camera and lighting techniques
- Strong working knowledge of Audio-Visual editing equipment and software
- Audio Visual equipment troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to work in the evening or weekends occasionally
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
- Must be able to enter data into computer
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment
- Must be able to use a telephone
- Must be able to hear and understand at normal levels and on the telephone
- Must be able to speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone
- Must be able to stoop
- Must be able to reach overhead
- Must be able to grasp
- Must be able to push
- Must be able to pull
- Must be able to move or lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Must be able to climb a 14' ladder to hang lights
- Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers
- Must be able to use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers
- Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets
- Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions
- Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports
- Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources
- Must be able to effectively communicate content of reports
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a technical capacity with a variety of audio-visual systems and equipment is strongly preferred
