Job Summary
Audio Visual (AV) Technical Specialist for a part-time role responsible for operation, upkeep, and upgrade of museum AV systems across theaters and exhibits. Activities include maintaining lighting, projectors, displays, and networked computers, operating live sound and video for events, updating video conferencing, recording podcasts/videocasts, basic video editing, and creating technical documentation. The role involves travel to remote sites for exhibit installation/removal, training staff, and designing/breaking down AV installations, with emphasis on systems design, programming (AMX Netlinx, CTS/ICIA credentials preferred), and hands-on support across Windows/Mac/Linux environments. Requires ability to work weekends/evenings/holidays and physical stamina for equipment handling.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Technical certification including ICIA Accreditation
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credential preferred
- 2-5 years prior experience maintaining or servicing audio visual systems preferred
- Experience with AV systems design, installation, and programming preferred
- Travel required for exhibit install, de-install and/or maintenance as required
- Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned
