Job Summary
AV Technology Manager at Convene Hospitality Group in Chicago leads operations for AV/IT services to corporate meetings and events. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering AV support (audio, video, lighting, networking, conferencing, and basic lighting) across meetings and events; supervising AV Specialists; collaborating with sales and planning teams to meet client requirements; developing site execution schedules; creating revenue-optimizing quotes; managing training and development; overseeing budgeting and vendor invoices; ensuring adherence to SOPs and delivering excellent customer service; and staying current with AV/hospitality technology trends to drive exceptional experiences. The role requires frequent onsite presence at the downtown Chicago venue and reports to the General Manager with dotted line to the Regional AV Manager.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience managing IT and AV equipment and systems
- Proven leadership experience
- Customer service or hospitality experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment (analog/digital mixers, wireless microphones, switchers, projectors/displays)
- Understanding of Crestron control and hardware endpoints
- Basic knowledge of data networking principles, architecture, and applications
- Experience with installing, configuring, operating, and administering OSes, applications, and hardware for Macs, PCs, LANs, and servers
- Ability to lead and manage team members effectively and collaborate with clients
- Familiarity with CRM applications
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including long days and weekends
- Ability to travel locally as needed
- Strong planning, budgeting, and vendor-management skills
- Experience generating comprehensive sales quotes and contributing to monthly/quarterly reports
- Training and development responsibilities for AV staff
- Mentoring AV Specialists to ensure consistent service quality
- Interviewing and hiring prospective department staff
