Audio Visual (AV) Technician

Job Summary
Facilitate on-site audio visual and lighting technical support for events, assemblies, and functions by setting up, maintaining, and operating AV equipment, lighting boards, and stage platforms. Design lighting and sound for specific events, program digital lighting consoles, and manage resources including lanterns, dimmer packs, and cabling. Conduct thorough examinations to identify equipment defects, recommend solutions, and oversee external vendor work to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Train students and interns in AV skills, supervise rehearsals for QLab programming and lighting design, and maintain the auditorium, control room, and store room in a clean, organized state. Liaise with staff, contractors, and external freelancers to coordinate tasks and promote progress. Maintain a standard of personal image and remain open to working outside normal hours for event support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of relevant experience
- An established background of working in a professional theatre, education sector, or relevant experience within the arts
- Competency with computerized lighting consoles and audio mixers and troubleshooting skills
- Competency with MS Office 365, audio editing software (Mac computer)
- Sound knowledge and experience with QLab
- Experience in lighting design
- The ability to communicate well and work in a team is essential
Desired Qualifications
- Diploma/degree or equivalent preferred
- Stage management experience (including prop making) a distinct advantage
