Job Summary
Install and maintain theatrical audio systems during load-in, operate sound equipment throughout the event run, and troubleshoot technical issues while preserving artistic integrity. Collaborate with the Sound Designer, Stage Manager, and production staff to implement last-minute changes during rehearsals and assist electricians with lighting systems as needed. Ensure event space is properly returned to the railroad during load-out and adhere to safety policies while working in varied conditions aboard a moving train. This role supports the immersive THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride experience, requiring certification in Audinate Dante and Q-SYS software.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a theatrical audio technician
- Experience with Dante
- Level 1 certification of Audinate Dante required before start of employment
- Experience with RF systems and Wireless Workbench
- Experience with QSC Q-SYS software
- Level 1 certification of Q-SYS required before start of employment
- Experience with computer networking hardware and software
- Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment
- Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize, and solve practical problems and resolve issues
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
- Varied schedules requiring evenings, weekends, overtime, and holidays
- Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor
- Able to stand and walk on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
- Time spent in and around active railroad yard
