Job Summary
Attorney (Commercial Law) embedded with operations at the Palo Verde Generating Station, serving as a strategic partner to business leaders. Lead drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements including vendor, procurement, and operational contracts. Provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance on commercial matters; influence decisions early in the process; build strong internal relationships to position legal as a valued partner. Must have strong experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements, be business-minded, and able to move beyond transactional work to gain visibility and impact. In-house experience or prior work with highly regulated corporate clients is preferred. Hybrid role with approximately 40% in-person work; reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees). The role offers direct exposure to business leadership and opportunities to influence operational and commercial decisions within a regulated energy context. This position requires a Juris Doctor (professional degree) and active State Bar admission, with 3-5 years of related experience for the Attorney level and 5+ years for the Senior Attorney level. Export control compliance considerations are noted for PVNGS and related positions.
Required Qualifications
- Degree from accredited law school; member of State Bar of Arizona
- Licensed state bar member in good standing (Arizona) for Senior Attorney
- 3-5 years related legal experience (Senior)
- Hybrid role with part-time in-person requirement (Arizona or New Mexico)
- Ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements
- Ability to counsel senior management and work with cross-functional teams
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- In-house experience or experience with highly regulated corporate clients preferred
- U.S. Export Control Laws knowledge may be required
