Job Summary
Review new and transfer file assignments, evaluate claims, and serve initial discovery within 30 days of receipt. Summarize discovery responses and medical records, then take and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and experts, completing summaries within 20 days. Prepare and file motions, oppositions, and replies; appear in court for law and motion, bench trials, jury trials, and binding arbitration. Manage a caseload of personal injury cases valued at $50,000 or less from inception through posttrial motions, including pretrial documents and motions in limine. Handle miscellaneous assignments from managing attorneys while conducting considerable automobile travel up to 20% of work time.
Required Qualifications
- Requires a law degree and admission to the bar in the state(s) where practicing
- Licensed in the state(s) where practicing
- Effective communication, persuasion and analytical skills
- Must meet established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status
- Must be able to work independently with minimum direction
- Good organizational skills necessary to manage a caseload with exposures up to $50,000
- Requires considerable automobile travel, up to 20% of work time
Desired Qualifications
- Requires a law degree from a state accredited or ABA accredited law school and admission to the bar in the state(s) where practicing
- 3 plus years as a licensed attorney with insurance defense experience
- 1st and 2nd chair trial experience
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills
