Job Summary
Prepare and maintain student attendance records, reports, and annual computerized filing systems. Issue readmit slips at the front desk, verify absences by contacting parents or teachers, and communicate with families regarding attendance and academic issues. Compile average daily attendance data for program analysis, manage student absence lists, and accompany site personnel on home visits. Distribute registration packets, process work permits, and order office supplies while adhering to district policies and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- General office procedures and office machines (computer, fax, and copier)
- Basic attendance reporting procedures and requirements
- Record keeping techniques
- Telephone techniques and etiquette
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
- Data entry techniques
- Enter data in computer quickly and accurately
- Accurately maintain records and prepare reports
- Accurately compile, review, verify, and record attendance data and generate reports
- Make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately
- Operate office machines
- Type 40 words per minute with speed and accuracy
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate effectively and interact appropriately with coworkers, students, parents, and the general public
- Assist callers and visitors to the attendance office
- Plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet schedules and deadlines
- Work calmly and efficiently under pressure, at times under high stress, with constant interruptions, strictly adhering to set policies and procedures
- Comply with and explain District policies and State regulations regarding student attendance
- Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as assigned, with compensation if overtime is required
- Work cooperatively with others and use good judgment
- One year general clerical experience, involving student records
- Proficient in use of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base computer applications

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit and talk or listen
- Ability to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls
- Ability to stand and reach with hands and arms
