Job Summary
Greet guests, answer phones, and sign people in at the fitness desk while cleaning cardio equipment, flooring, mats, and bathrooms to maintain university standards. Instruct visitors on proper use of both cardio and strength machines during client fitness orientations. Monitor the facility constantly to ensure a safe environment, addressing any cleanliness or safety issues immediately, and enforce facility policies and university rules. Check in and out fitness equipment, report problems or suggestions to the supervisor, and assist guests with orientations as required. Work a minimum of three shifts per week, including evenings, while maintaining a neat appearance and staying updated on facility changes.
Required Qualifications
- Work a minimum of 3 shifts per week which may include evenings
- Have a current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification upon commencement of employment
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Fitness experience preferred
- One year related work experience is preferred
- Knowledge of fitness equipment
- General knowledge of fitness and exercise principles
- Clerical practices and standards
- Ability to demonstrate professional public relations skills, and effective interpersonal and communications skills
- Prioritize tasks
- Operate office machines and equipment
- Be trained in new techniques and jobs
