Job Summary
Atmospheric Sciences - Postdoctoral Researcher to work on clouds and precipitation with goals to improve global storm-resolving models using ground-based and satellite observations and machine learning. Responsibilities include researching boundary layer turbulence, clouds, convection, precipitation, and land-atmosphere interactions; diagnosing and improving models; performing modeling with cloud-resolving models or large-eddy simulations; collaborating within a multidisciplinary team; publishing results; and travel as needed. Required PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or related field plus experience in cloud microphysics, turbulence and cloud schemes, convective-scale modeling, observational analysis, and machine learning. Desired experience includes deep learning, subgrid-scale parameterization development, C++ programming, and earth system modeling. Salary: $123,048 annually (range stated). Required Qualifications
- PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or a related field
- Experience in cloud microphysics, turbulence and cloud schemes, convective-scale modeling, observational analysis, machine learning
- Ability to perform as an innovative experimentalist with broad range of experience in experimental design, techniques, and execution
- Experience developing independent research projects and publication of peer-reviewed literature
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and presenting technical information
- Effective initiative and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teamwork
