Job Summary
Conduct pickleball classes by preparing equipment, managing rosters, and delivering instruction according to lesson plans. Ensure participant safety by enforcing park rules, reporting hazards immediately, and completing accident/incident forms within 24 hours. Manage equipment logistics, including fixing or removing gear as needed, and verify all items are accounted for after each session. Maintain professional communication with supervisors and participants while assisting with front desk tasks during downtime. This role requires on-site presence in varying weather conditions and adherence to Gurnee Park District safety and customer service standards.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- experience working with children, teens and/or adults in a recreation setting
- specifically teaching/leading programs
- A basic knowledge of working with participants of multiple ages in a recreation setting
- Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail, phone and in person with direct supervisor
- Must also be able to communicate with large groups of people participating in a given class
- This includes enforcing rules and policies of the park district pertaining to the facility or program that you are leading
- The ability to learn new skills
- make mature decisions regarding safety
- Ability to work with diverse groups of participants
- communicate effectively with them
- Must have a positive attitude
- Your job may entail running, jumping, crawling, bending, kneeling, squatting or sitting
- maximum weight that you are expected to be able to lift is 25 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- A working knowledge of various sports
- a background playing sports
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification is preferred
