Job Summary
Coach individual participants in basic and advanced basketball skills while providing leadership to the team. Teach, monitor, and enforce standards of discipline and sportsmanship, ensuring adherence to MIAA rules and regulations. Assist the Athletic Director in planning practice schedules and creating an environment where students are supported to participate. Instruct students on proper equipment use, set up gear for practices and games, and notify the Athletic Director of any equipment needs. Complete all necessary student documentation and submit it by deadlines. Attend regular coach meetings to discuss eligibility, schedules, and concerns, and keep the Athletic Director updated on game and practice issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Previous related work experience with children in an education setting
- Must possess teaching and coaching techniques appropriate to the sport assigned
- Current Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion
- First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion training
- Certification as required by MIAA
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
- Ability to relate well to others
- Must be available to attend activities, practices and meetings outside of school hours as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching in a similar sport
