Athletics Director/Truancy Officer

Job Summary

Develop and manage athletic programs across Crossroads Charter Schools, coordinating schedules, events, and coach supervision while ensuring compliance with MSHSAA regulations. Monitor student attendance data to identify absenteeism patterns, develop proactive strategies, and conduct conferences with families to address chronic truancy. Collaborate with school leaders, counselors, and external agencies to implement interventions, maintain required documentation, and prepare notices for hearings. Serve as the primary liaison with conference and state organizations, oversee transportation and concession procedures, and support coaches in meeting eligibility requirements. Provide leadership to the school team to promote student engagement, belonging, and academic success through both athletic and attendance initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations, requirements, deadlines, and correspondence
  • Knowledge of compulsory education requirements
  • Ability to develop and maintain the master athletics calendar
  • Ability to oversee athletic communications, including the athletics handbook, schedules, website content, bulletins, and other publications
  • Ability to manage student-athlete eligibility
  • Ability to maintain required student-athlete documentation, including physical examinations, parent/guardian permission forms, eligibility records, rosters, and other required materials
  • Ability to coordinate the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, and evaluation of coaches and athletic personnel
  • Ability to develop the annual athletics department budget and monitor athletic expenditures
  • Ability to serve as the primary liaison with conference, community, and state organizations related to athletics
  • Ability to oversee the coordination of transportation for athletic practices, competitions, and other athletic events
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate concession procedures for athletic events, including staffing, inventory, cash-handling expectations, and adherence to established school procedures
  • Ability to monitor student attendance data to identify patterns of absenteeism, chronic absence, tardiness, and potential truancy
  • Ability to develop and coordinate proactive attendance strategies designed to improve daily attendance and student engagement
  • Ability to establish timely, consistent, and supportive communication with parents and guardians regarding student attendance
  • Ability to conduct attendance conferences with students and families and develop attendance improvement plans when appropriate
  • Ability to identify barriers affecting regular school attendance and connect students and families with appropriate school or community-based resources and supports
  • Ability to conduct appropriate outreach, including home visits when necessary and consistent with school policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation of attendance interventions, family contacts, conferences, notices, referrals, and follow-up activities
  • Ability to prepare and communicate required attendance and truancy notices in accordance with Crossroads Charter Schools policies and applicable requirements
  • Ability to prepare and maintain documentation necessary for truancy referrals, hearings, audits, or other attendance-related proceedings
  • Ability to maintain student and family confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, school policy, and applicable law
  • Ability to participate in meetings, training, and professional development as required
  • Ability to act professionally and ethically at all times and comply with Crossroads Charter Schools policies, procedures, expectations, and applicable laws
