Job Summary

Manage comprehensive sports medicine programs for student-athletes by evaluating injuries, administering first aid, and serving as the primary medical responder for home and away events. Develop individualized rehabilitation plans, apply preventative measures like taping and bracing, and coordinate baseline testing and Return-to-Play protocols under Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines. Maintain medical records, manage the athletic training room budget, and track insurance claims while acting as the central communication link between athletes, parents, coaches, and physicians. The role requires Massachusetts state licensure, Board of Certification credentials, and flexibility for after-school, evening, and weekend event coverage during a 10-month season from August through June.

Required Qualifications

  • Massachusetts state licensure
  • Board of Certification (BOC) credentials

  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Massachusetts
  • Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training or Sports Medicine program
  • Successful completion of state-mandated background screenings, including SORI, CORI, and fingerprinting
  • Familiarity with MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) rules and sports medicine procedures
  • 10-month position aligning with the academic and high school sports calendar (August through June)
  • Non-traditional hours including on-site presence during afternoon practices, weeknight games, and weekend tournament coverage
  • Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • Massachusetts State Licensure as an Athletic Trainer (or eligibility for licensure by start date)
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree from a CAATE accredited program
  • Successful fulfillment of CORI, and mandatory fingerprinting background screenings in accordance with Massachusetts state mandates
  • Proven expertise in the oversight of head injury protocols and the execution of urgent medical response strategies
