Job Summary
Manage athletic injuries under physician supervision for schools, sports clubs, and community events, adhering to the Georgia State Practice Act and NATABOC standards. Serve as the primary case manager for athletes requiring higher-level care by maintaining records, streamlining physician appointments, and acting as a liaison for return-to-play decisions. Implement injury prevention education, wellness programs, and CPR/first aid training for faculty and stakeholders while networking with booster clubs and local media to promote Optim's services. Complete weekly, monthly, and annual reporting requirements and attend all departmental meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC)
- Georgia State Athletic Training Practice Act knowledge
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Supervision by Medical Director of Sports Medicine and/or designated Team Physician(s)
- Case management/navigation of injured athletes/patients requiring referral to higher level of care
- Market/promote physicians, services, and facilities
- Implement and/or participate in educational activities related to sports medicine, orthopedics, and wellness
- Serve as community relationship manager for assigned service area(s)
- Manage athletic injuries under supervision of designated team physician
- Maintain athlete records with current demographic and insurance information
- Streamline/facilitate physician appointments as requested/needed
- Attend physician appointments with athletes when feasible and as permitted
- Educate stakeholders regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options
- Call athletes immediately after surgery
- Serve as primary contact for post-op questions
- Serve as liaison between stakeholders regarding injury status return to play
- Create opportunities to directly market, promote, educate, network, and represent Optim's physicians, menu of services, and/or facilities
- Serve as primary Optim relationship manager for coaches, teachers, faculty, staff, parents, and students at assigned school(s)
- Assist school nursing with athletic type injuries as needed/consulted
- Implement wellness programs for faculty/staff at assigned school(s)
- Participate in healthcare education activities at assigned school(s)
- Coordinate and/or offer CPR/first aid certification for faculty/staff
- Network with school booster clubs/organizations
- Serve as primary Optim relationship manager for community stakeholders in assigned county or city
- Partner with local primary care for help with non-ortho athletic injuries
- Partner with local primary care for help with annual sports physicals
- Partner with local primary care to help with referrals to Optim as needed
- Be available to recreational sports organizations for injury prevention education
- Be available to recreational sports organizations for injury consults as requested
- Network with local civic clubs to promote ATC work
- Network with local media outlets to promote ATC work
- Develop and implement community education activities on injury prevention
- Participate in Optim sponsored community events as requested/needed
- Complete all weekly, monthly, and annual reporting requirements on time and in requested format
- Attend all required departmental meetings
- Demonstrate analytical skills using intuition and experience to complement data
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner
- Demonstrate project management skills including developing project plans, coordinating projects, communicating changes, completing projects on time and budget, and managing project team activities
