Job Summary
Establish and maintain a comprehensive athletic medical program for all school-sponsored activities, ensuring the health and safety of student-athletes through injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation. Provide on-site medical coverage for daily practices, home events, and away games while acting as the first responder to evaluate acute injuries and emergencies. Deliver preventative care including taping, bracing, and bandaging; advise coaches on conditioning and equipment; and manage the athletic training room inventory and safety protocols. Conduct baseline concussion testing, execute return-to-play protocols, and develop individualized rehabilitation programs. Maintain accurate medical records, coordinate the district's Emergency Action Plan, and ensure coaches hold current CPR and AED certifications. Work non-traditional hours covering afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays in varying weather conditions, with the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree in Athletic Training
- Active certification in good standing from the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer
- Valid State of Michigan Athletic Trainer License or applicable state license
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for healthcare professionals
- Availability to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical ability to assist or lift injured student-athletes
- Ability to carry medical kits, water coolers, and emergency equipment (up to 50 lbs) across fields
