Job Summary
Provide medical coverage for injured athletes during practices and events, administering first aid and collaborating with physicians and physical therapists on rehabilitation programs. Oversee the Athletic Training room to ensure supplies are maintained and the environment remains clean, safe, and professional. Communicate effectively with coaches, administration, parents, and medical team members while maintaining accurate records of all evaluations and treatments. Develop relationships with key stakeholders including the Athletic Director and coaching staff, and organize educational opportunities such as in-services, lectures, and seasonal physicals. Ensure proper return-to-play criteria are met before allowing athlete participation.
Required Qualifications
- Current Athletic Training Licensure for the states in which you work.
- Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- Must be available for variable working hours, unpredictability of schedules, adjusting to match the needs of the partner and late nights.
Desired Qualifications
- Two years' experience working in school/community setting as an Athletic Trainer
