Job Summary

Evaluate injuries, provide first aid and emergency care, and treat student athletes during school athletic events under the direction of a physician. Manage concussion protocols, including preseason baseline testing and return-to-play progressions, while maintaining accurate injury records and coordinating with parents, coaches, and healthcare providers. Assist outpatient rehabilitation patients with functional mobility, exercise programs, and equipment use under therapist supervision, ensuring proper body mechanics and safety during transfers. Maintain treatment spaces, inventory medical supplies, and follow infection prevention policies. Liaise between school districts and the hospital's sports medicine team, presenting at educational programs and participating in injury prevention assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training
  • BOC Certified
  • New York State License and Registration
  • Must be able to assess and provide treatment and training interventions for student athletes within the athletic trainer scope of practice
  • Must be able to work independently with excellent time management skills
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to carry out patient treatment plans under the direct supervision of the licensed therapist for patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses
  • Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced department, organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of treatment space and equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in an outpatient clinic setting
  • Experience working with student athletes in a high school setting
