Job Summary
Athletic Trainer (AT) on a Human Performance Team responsible for enhancing Soldier readiness and reducing injury risk through evidence-based injury prevention, movement optimization, and return-to-duty/reconditioning programs. Responsibilities include musculoskeletal assessments, development and implementation of individualized injury prevention and reconditioning plans, education on injury prevention and mobility, functional movement screenings, progress monitoring with plan modifications, collaboration with multidisciplinary providers, field-house training support, and maintaining compliant documentation and performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program
- Current Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC) credential through the Board of Certification (BOC)
- Successful completion of the BOC examination
- Add'l certifications related to sports performance, corrective exercise, injury prevention, or rehabilitation are preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant post-graduate experience providing injury risk assessments, reconditioning education, injury prevention services, and sports performance enhancement support to athletes, military personnel, or other high-performing populations
- Ability to conduct movement assessments, functional evaluations, and injury risk screenings
- Knowledge of exercise prescription, rehabilitation principles, and performance enhancement techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary performance team
- Ability to maintain medical and performance documentation and prepare reports
- Licensure requirements for active, valid state license and compliance with DHA-PM 6025.13, Volume 4
