Athletic Performance Coach

Job Summary

Design, develop, and evaluate evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for male and female student-athletes while researching resistance training, speed, and agility techniques. Educate athletes on nutrition, recovery, and injury prevention, and maintain performance evaluation records to communicate results with coaching staff. Coordinate all fundraising activities and events, share updates with departmental personnel, and provide continuing education presentations annually. Supervise the Fitness Center to ensure safety, develop return-to-play protocols with the athletic trainer, and guide interns and volunteers with quarterly evaluations. Comply with NCAA and university policies while modeling the university's core values of integrity and teamwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years' working as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach
  • Ability to work effectively at a computer for up to eight hours daily
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift, squat, bend, stand, and run
  • Regular attendance

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field preferred
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) though the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA)
