Job Summary
Conduct sports activity supervision, training, and coaching for K-12 student athletes, delivering core movement and sport-specific skills. Manage team registration, equipment issuance, try-outs, and practice schedules while coordinating with coaching staff to set rules and policies. Monitor athlete participation levels and safety precautions, overseeing multiple supervision functions including athletes, equipment, and staff. Requires frequent travel for off-site competitions, moderate lifting, and 70% outdoor physical effort. Reports to the School Site Athletic Director.
Required Qualifications
- Certified employee serving in a teaching or administrative position
- Certified paraprofessional
- Evidence of completion of the required lay coach courses (GHSA Principles for Coaching and NCSS PREPARE/First Aid)
- Completion of the GHSA Head Coaching Class
- Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Analytical mindset
- Emphasis on safety precautions
- Awareness of best training procedures and injury preventative actions
- Ability to work with internal and external personnel
- Decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High-level accountability for effective operation and results
- Ability to work in a variable work environment (Office Setting, School grounds, Stadiums)
- Ability to perform physical effort 70% of the time or more outdoors
- Ability to moderate lifting based on sport
