Job Summary
Oversee effective delivery of sports coaching to K-12 secondary students by instructing fundamentals, supervising practices, and coordinating try-outs. Manage systematic equipment issuance, team policies, and athlete registration while guiding students toward appropriate participation levels. Coordinate with the School Site Athletic Director and coaching staff to monitor delivery impact, healthy lifestyles, and safety protocols. Requires frequent travel for off-site competition and training in variable environments involving significant outdoor physical effort.
Required Qualifications
- Certified employee serving in a teaching or administrative position
- Certified paraprofessional
- Evidence of completion of the required lay coach courses (GHSA Principles for Coaching and NCSS PREPARE/First Aid)
- Completion of the GHSA Head Coaching Class
- Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Analytical mindset
- Emphasis on safety precautions
- Awareness of best training procedures and injury preventative actions
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High-level accountability for effective operation and results
- Regular, frequent travel for off-site competition/training locations
- Work in variable environment (Office Setting, School grounds, Stadiums)
- Physical effort 70% of the time or more outdoors
- Moderate lifting
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in coaching or playing the sport
- Experience with inventory of equipment and scheduling
