Athletic Director (full-time or part-time)

Job Summary
Develop, implement, and oversee all athletic programs reflecting the interests and needs of our student population, including scheduling practices and games, managing equipment, recruiting coaches, and supervising athletic eligibility. Manage the Athletics budget and grant requirements while leading non-competitive programming to support student development before and after school. Actively contribute to the High School and Middle School teams, serve as the site supervisor for competitions, and provide coverage during instructional and non-instructional time. Collaborate with the Dean Team to plan inclusive student life and culture programming. Launch and lead the founding high school athletics program and build the existing middle school program for the 2026-2027 school year.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of two years of classroom or physical education teaching experience
- A minimum of two years of experience coaching team sports
- A commitment to and belief in all students and the mission of Excel Academy Charter Schools, including Excel's values and educational model
- A commitment to addressing racial and economic inequity in education
- Demonstrated thought-leadership and the ability/willingness to implement strategic programs that align with Excel Academy's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals
- The ability to focus and thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment and the willingness and desire to support others in doing their best work
- An entrepreneurial spirit that reflects an openness to change, a willingness to problem-solve, and an interest in developing new ideas & programs
- Can speak to the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Have experience in a public or charter school setting
- Speak Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic fluently
