Athletic Coordinator

Job Summary

Organize, direct, and supervise athletic classes, leagues, and recreational programs while coordinating schedules, marketing, and participant engagement. Manage program fees, prepare deposits, and maintain cash accountability records. Supervise staff and volunteers, train them on safety protocols, and ensure compliance with department policies and safety standards. Create digital and print marketing materials, manage social media outreach, and address inquiries from patrons and coaches. Plan and execute community sports tournaments and special events in collaboration with local organizations. Ensure facilities and equipment are properly maintained for safe public use and assess program success to recommend improvements. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in a combination of office and field environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a related field
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years previous relevant work experience
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification
  • Clinician's Certifications in National Youth Sports Coaches Association training program
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Knowledge of sports program management and event coordination
  • Skill in supervising staff, volunteers, and officials
  • Ability to develop and promote athletic and recreational programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management tools
  • Knowledge of athletic safety protocols and facility operations
  • Strong public relations and communication skills
  • Ability to handle financial transactions and maintain records accurately
  • Skill in conflict resolution and problem-solving during events
  • Ability to market programs and create promotional materials
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and community resources
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple events simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through on program logistics
  • Skill in using technology for scheduling, reporting, and communications
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement
  • Ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach
  • Ability to climb and balance
  • Ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend
  • Ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment
  • Visual acuity of 20 feet or more
  • Visual acuity of 20 inches or less
  • Three dimensional vision
  • Precise hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
