Job Summary
Announce and enforce rules regarding player conditioning, training, and health safety while verifying insurance, sportsmanship contracts, and medical forms for all team members. Supervise practices and contests, ensuring athletes are picked up after events and monitoring academic progress weekly. Conduct at least one fundraising activity, organize practice and game responsibilities, and report injuries to the athletic trainer or Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program. Attend mandatory FHSAA rules clinics, Gateway Conference meetings, and professional development courses. Monitor compliance with Title IX, FHSAA, and Duval County School Board regulations. Secure doctor and parent approval before returning injured students to play.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of required athletic coaching courses to include First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion in Sports (NFHS courses), AED training, Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)
- Knowledge of the sport and the strategies associated with the sport
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong creative problem solving skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to conduct staff meetings and be in charge of all tryouts, practices, team meetings, and athletic contests for the sport
- Ability to be a role model for all student-athletes by conducting your behavior in a professional manner at all times
- Ability to motivate student-athletes to produce their best effort and results
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arena
