Job Summary
Announce and enforce rules regarding player conditioning, training, and health safety while verifying all required forms and insurance for team members. Attend mandatory FHSAA clinics and Gateway Conference meetings to maintain professional development standards. Cooperate with the athletic director to establish and verify physical examinations before equipment issuance or practice participation. Conduct and supervise at least one fundraising activity, ensuring constant supervision of athletes during locker rooms, practices, and contests. Monitor academic progress weekly and report injuries to the athletic trainer, completing necessary accident and return-to-play forms. Organize clear practice and game responsibilities, manage tryouts, and lead staff meetings to improve the total educational program.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of required athletic coaching courses to include First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion in Sports (NFHS courses), AED training, Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)
- Knowledge of the sport and the strategies associated with the sport
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong creative problem solving skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to conduct staff meetings and be in charge of all tryouts, practices, team meetings, and athletic contests for the sport
- Ability to be a role model for all student-athletes by conducting your behavior in a professional manner at all times
- Ability to motivate student-athletes to produce their best effort and results
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arena
