Job Summary
Instruct and coach students in cross country; help arrange running schedules and season plans; attend required meetings and trainings; ensure safety and adherence to high school athletics standards and CIF policies; demonstrate knowledge of coaching theory and techniques in girls' cross country; apply understanding of adolescent psychology to student-athletes; uphold high ethical standards in sportsmanship and relationships with students; communicate effectively with parents/guardians and school staff about issues or emergencies; support academic encouragement and positive relations within the school community.
Required Qualifications
- Injury prevention/treatment certifications as listed
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest
- Concussion
- Heat illness prevention
- Fundamentals of coaching/high school coaching training or Coaching Essentials training (middle school)
- Provide written evidence of coaching knowledge and techniques
- Knowledge of rules/regulations of high school sport
- Knowledge of adolescent psychology related to sports participation
- Ethical standards in sportsmanship and relationships with students
- Knowledge of CIF policies related to athletics
- Knowledge, skill and ability to maintain safety in coaching at practices and contests
- Ability to communicate with parents/guardians and school staff
Desired Qualifications
- Valid, current CPR card
- Valid, current First Aid card
- EMT I or II card
- Sports Injury Certificate
- Fundamentals of coaching training (high school) or Coaching Essentials training (middle school)
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of high school athletics
- Knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation
- Evidence of coaching theory and techniques in the sport
- Knowledge of CIF policies related to athletics
- Discipline, teamwork, and communication with parents/guardians
