Job Summary
Athletic Coach for Fall Girls Cross Country at Life Academy in Oakland. Responsibilities include instructing and coaching students in cross country, helping arrange competition schedules, performing coaching duties at practices and contests, attending required meetings and trainings, ensuring safety and adherence to CIF policies, and demonstrating knowledge of coaching theory and techniques. Candidates should possess coaching-related certifications (CPR, First Aid, EMT I/II or related injury-prevention credentials), knowledge of adolescent psychology, and the ability to communicate with parents/guardians and school staff. Preference given to current Oakland Unified School District certificated employees with a valid CA teaching credential, and experience coordinating athletic programs and safety practices.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CPR card
- Valid First Aid card OR proof of college-level course in care/prevention of athletic injuries OR EMT I or II card OR Sports Injury Certificate
- Fundamentals of coaching training (high school) OR Coaching Essentials training (middle school)
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the sport at the high school level
- Knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation
- Evidence of knowledge of coaching theory and techniques in the sport
- Demonstrated ability to maintain safety in coaching practices and contests
- Ability to communicate with parents/guardians and school staff regarding problems or emergencies
