Job Summary
Assist the Head Coach in delivering sports coaching to K-12 students by instructing fundamentals, supervising practices, and coordinating try-outs. Manage athlete registration, equipment issuance, and practice schedules while guiding students on appropriate participation levels. Monitor team operations, safety procedures, and healthy lifestyle impacts through collaboration with staff and external partners. Perform duties requiring physical effort outdoors, including travel for off-site competitions, under minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Certified employee serving in a teaching or administrative position
- Certified paraprofessional
- Evidence of completion of the required lay coach courses (GHSA Principles for Coaching and NCSS PREPARE/First Aid)
- Completion of the GHSA Head Coaching Class
- Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Analytical mindset
- Emphasis on safety precautions
- Awareness of best training procedures and injury preventative actions
- Ability to manage multiple functions of supervision (athletes, equipment, and staff)
- High-level accountability for effective operation and results
- Ability to work in a variable environment (Office Setting, School grounds, Stadiums)
- Ability to perform physical effort 70% of the time or more outdoors
- Ability to moderate lifting based on sport
- Regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel
- Decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in coaching or playing the sport
- Experience with inventory of equipment and scheduling
