Job Summary
Athletic Coach position for Boys Football at McClymonds (Fall 2026) involves instructing and coaching students in football, helping organize playing schedules, and performing coaching responsibilities. The role requires attendance at meetings and trainings per OAL, and adherence to district and CIF policies. Candidates should demonstrate coaching knowledge, safety responsiveness, and ability to foster teamwork, discipline, and academic encouragement among students; preference given to current Oakland Unified School District certificated employees with a CA teaching credential. Certifications in CPR/First Aid or equivalent athletic-injury training (or EMT/Sports Injury Certification), foundational coaching training (HS or MS level), and knowledge of CIF rules, adolescent psychology, and safety protocols are required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid, current CPR card AND Valid, current First Aid card OR proof of completing a college-level course in care/prevention of athletic injuries OR EMT I or II card OR Sports Injury Certificate
- Fundamentals of coaching training (high school) OR Coaching Essentials training (middle school)
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the sport at the high school level
- Knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation
- Ability to maintain high safety standards in practices and contests
- Ethical standards related to sportsmanship and relationships with students
- Communication with parents/guardians and school staff regarding problems or emergencies
