Job Summary
Administer sports-specific activities within District and school Athletic Department policies, enforcing rules regarding player conditioning, training, and health safety. Verify required forms including EL2, insurance, and sportsmanship contracts for all team members while ensuring physical examinations are completed and signed by athletes, parents, and physicians. Conduct and supervise fundraising activities, monitor weekly academic progress, and organize clear practice and game responsibilities with primary and extra-duty assignments. Attend mandatory FHSAA rules clinics and Gateway Conference meetings to stay current on regulations, Title IX compliance, and Duval County School Board requirements. Report injuries to the athletic trainer, complete accident reports, and secure doctor and parent approval for return-to-play protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of required athletic coaching courses to include First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion in Sports (NFHS courses), AED training, Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)
- Knowledge of the sport and the strategies associated with the sport
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong creative problem solving skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to conduct staff meetings and be in charge of all tryouts, practices, team meetings, and athletic contests for the sport
- Ability to be a role model for all student-athletes by conducting your behavior in a professional manner at all times
- Ability to motivate student-athletes to produce their best effort and results
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arena
