Athletic Assistant Coach Basketball

Job Summary
Assist the head coach in teaching basketball to high school athletes, promoting positive conduct and academic support, ensuring safety and proper maintenance of equipment, and coordinating supervision of student-athletes in all areas of play and venues while communicating with faculty, staff, parents, and guidance for college recruiting and scholarship processes. Responsibilities include instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and training; supervising staff; evaluating staff performance; maintaining safe venues and equipment; coordinating supervision in lockers and play areas; and supporting overall program operations under the principal and athletic director’s direction. Requires strong communication, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to the Pursuing Victory with Honor program; preferred to be a Catholic teacher and comply with Diocese of Phoenix requirements, Safe Environment Training, FBI clearance, and possess or be willing to obtain a driver’s license in Arizona.
Required Qualifications
- Preference given to Catholic teacher
- Must meet Diocese of Phoenix requirements for employment
- Safe Environment Training and signed Code of Conduct
- FBI Fingerprint clearance completed
- Having a current Arizona State driver’s license is desirable
- Must be in good physical condition
- Must have initiative, creativity, problem solving skills, good judgment in handling different personalities and emerging situations
- proficiency in good communication skills with both children and adults
- positive attitude in normal and crisis situations
- ability to work cooperatively with others
- knowledge and understanding of good teaching techniques and child psychology
