Job Summary
Athletic Assistant supports operations of designated athletic programs under the Athletic Director. Responsibilities include ensuring safety of players, volunteers, and spectators during practices, games, and events; monitoring practices and games; training referees; organizing and distributing athletic equipment; assisting the Athletic Director with team organization, scheduling, and other administrative tasks; coaching or substituting as needed; refereeing or substituting as needed; promoting athletic leagues/camps; filling in for absent program coordinators; and performing other duties as assigned. Requires strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred; must be able to perform essential functions and pass a TB test; physical requirements include ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments with varying noise levels.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of two years’ experience playing sports at collegiate level for assigned clinic
- Minimum of two years playing, coaching, or referee experience in basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, flag football/football, or volleyball
- Must have visual, physical and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations
- Strong communication skills verbal and written
- Bi-lingual; Spanish/English strongly preferred
- Group leadership skills and organizational/project management abilities
- Mandatory negative TB test
- Physical ability to perform essential functions including standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs
