Job Summary
Translate healthcare and patient-facing documents for a federal healthcare language services requirement, preserving meaning, tone, terminology, and formatting; support translation of vital medical/admin materials, HIPAA notices, patient rights materials, and privacy-related documents; participate in quality control, editing, proofreading, or bilingual review; adhere to standard and expedited turnaround timelines and HIPAA/privacy ethics; remote, per-assignment work with extended reading/writing on computer; requires current ATA certification, professional translation experience, and ability to pass screening; multiple language pairs encouraged, with priority languages potentially including Spanish, Korean, Japanese, French, Vietnamese, Filipino/Tagalog, Samoan, Turkish, Portuguese, and others.
Required Qualifications
- Current American Translators Association (ATA) certification
- Professional written translation experience
- Experience translating medical, healthcare, patient rights, privacy, or government documents
- Strong writing ability in both source and target languages
- Ability to support per-word translation assignments
- Ability to provide HIPAA / Privacy Act training documentation
- Ability to pass exclusion screening (e.g., HHS OIG LEIE and TRICARE Sanctioned Provider List checks)
- Federal healthcare or military treatment facility translation experience preferred
- Experience with medical terminology management preferred
- Experience translating HIPAA notices, patient rights materials, intake forms, discharge instructions, consent forms, or patient education materials preferred
- Experience with quality review, editing, proofreading, or bilingual review preferred
- Note: ATA membership alone is not the same as ATA certification
- Candidates should clearly identify whether they hold an individual ATA certification or another equivalent national translation certification
