Job Summary
Define and advance policy interests for AstraZeneca's Oncology Business in Japan, driving efforts to improve access to innovative treatments and strengthen collaboration with patient advocacy organizations. Support policy engagement on access to oncology medicines by understanding Chuikyo, MHLW, and drug pricing processes while developing evidence-based arguments to position the company as a solutions-oriented partner to Japan's healthcare system. Engage stakeholders at national and local levels to grow the company's reputation as a leader in oncology, working cross-functionally with Medical, Commercial, and Market Access colleagues. This role reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs & Strategy Japan and contributes to the wider Corporate Affairs strategy.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in corporate affairs, public affairs, communications, or related field in healthcare field
- Experience engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders at high levels
- Deep understanding of Japan's healthcare policy landscape, including MHLW, PMDA, Chuikyo, and drug pricing/reimbursement processes
- Proven relationship development and management skills with government, industry associations, or patient organizations
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration and matrix working environment
- Track record of strategic thinking and managing complex stakeholder initiatives
- Native-level Japanese with business-level English (written and verbal)
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex policy issues into compelling narratives
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships
- Ability to influence without authority in a matrix environment
- Project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
