Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager role at Dollar General in Nashport, OH. Responsible for assisting the Store Manager with supervision of store employees, merchandising and inventory control, cashiering, deposits, and ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction. Leads with a customer-first focus, helps with scheduling and training, maintains planograms and displays, ensures cash controls and refunds/overrides are properly handled, and may act in the Store Manager's absence. Requires strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, detail orientation, problem-solving, math ability for cashiering and reporting, and the ability to drive to the bank for deposits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Mathematical proficiency including basic calculations
- Experience in stock handling, merchandising, and planograms
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Customer-service oriented with focus on profitability and loss prevention
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Frequent walking/standing and physical activity constraints
