Job Summary
Greet and assist customers while operating cash registers and scanners to itemize purchases. Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week, managing employee scheduling, training, and safety meetings. Assist the Store Manager with stocking, restocking, rotating merchandise, and maintaining accurate inventory levels through controlling damages and markdowns. Ensure financial integrity by handling cashier accountability, key control, refunds, overrides, register counts, and bank deposits. Drive your own vehicle to the bank for deposits and manage the store in the Store Manager's absence. Requires one year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds
- Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
- Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience
