Job Summary
Greet and assist customers while operating cash registers and scanners to itemize purchases. Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week, assisting the Store Manager with scheduling, training, and conducting safety meetings. Manage merchandise by receiving, unpacking, stocking, and rotating items to maintain accurate inventory levels and implement planograms. Perform cashiering functions, control damages and markdowns, and authorize refunds and overrides to ensure financial integrity. Count register tills, deposit money in the bank using your own vehicle, and manage the store in the Store Manager's absence. Requires high school diploma, one year of retail experience, and ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds
- Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
- Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Frequent walking and standing
- Ability to open and close the store
- Ability to manage merchandise including receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking, and rotating
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory levels
- Ability to implement and maintain planograms
- Ability to ensure financial integrity of the store
- Ability to authorize and sign for refunds and overrides
- Ability to count register tills
- Ability to deposit money in bank
- Ability to manage the store in the Store Manager's absence
- Ability to assist with scheduling employees
- Ability to provide adequate training for employees

Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience
