Job Summary
Greet and assist customers while operating cash registers and scanners to process purchases. Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week, assisting the Store Manager with employee scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance. Manage merchandise by receiving, unpacking, stocking, and rotating items to maintain planograms and accurate inventory levels. Control financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, refund authorization, and bank deposits, driving to the store's vehicle to deposit funds. Perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability and protect company assets.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds
- Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
- Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience
