Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in Burlington, NC oversees a clean, customer-first store operation under the Store Manager's direction, supervising employees, merchandising, paperwork, and deposits. Responsibilities include providing superior customer service, operating the cash register, opening/closing the store, scheduling and training staff, maintaining inventory and planograms, ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability, and supporting the Store Manager in their absence. Requires strong communication, organization, problem-solving, cash handling, and ability to perform cashier duties, stocking, and basic financial tasks; prior retail and supervisory experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred; ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasional travel to other stores may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience preferred
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
