Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in Brunswick, OH. Responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading store operations, supervising employees, ensuring customer-first service, merchandising, inventory management, cash handling and deposits, scheduling, training, safety, and adherence to company policies. Duties include opening/closing the store, managing planograms, maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability, and assisting in the Store Manager's absence. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interpret procedures, and capacity to drive store profitability and asset protection.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Mathematical calculation proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
- Cash handling procedures and cashier accountability
- Ability to open and close the store as needed
- Ability to schedule employees and conduct training
- Knowledge of planograms and merchandise presentation
- Ability to manage inventory and control damages/markdowns
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling in a fast-paced environment
