Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in Smithdale, MS leads customer-service excellence, assists with supervision of store staff, merchandise presentation, and cash handling. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store at least two days per week, scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, executing planograms, maintaining inventory accuracy, safeguarding assets, handling cash deposits, authorizing refunds/overrides, and stepping in for Store Manager when absent. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving, organizational focus, and the ability to perform cashier duties and deposits; high school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred and retail supervisory experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
