Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in Oxford, MS supports Store Manager by supervising store employees, managing merchandise presentation, completing paperwork, handling deposits, stocking and cashiering, and executing store-level tasks to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include leading customer service, scheduling and training staff, maintaining planograms, inventory controls, cash integrity, refunds/overrides, and deposits, with occasional coverage in the Store Manager’s absence. Requires retail experience and at least six months of supervisory experience, plus a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication, organizational, and cash-handling skills are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and cash handling procedures
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Frequent walking and standing; ability to lift up to 40 pounds, occasional up to 55 pounds
- Ability to manage store operations in the Store Manager's absence
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Customer-first focus and merchandising responsibilities
