Job Summary
The Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General will support the Store Manager in leading store operations, supervising staff, and ensuring merchandise presentation and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include providing superior customer service, operating the cash register, opening/closing the store two days per week, scheduling and training employees, managing stock and planograms, maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring cash control and deposits, and stepping in for the Store Manager in their absence. Key skills include interpersonal and written/oral communication, problem-solving, organization, cash handling, and ability to perform calculations. Requires high school diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred) and retail supervisory experience. Works in a fast-paced, physical environment with regular lifting and mobility, and travel to the bank as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and operate cash register functions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures manuals
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
