Job Summary
Asst Store Manager at Dollar General in Mechanicsville, VA, supports Store Manager with supervision of staff, merchandising, cash handling, and daily store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include leading customer service, opening/closing the store multiple days per week, training and scheduling employees, executing planograms, maintaining inventory accuracy, managing cash control and deposits, authorizing refunds/overrides, and assisting in store management in the Manager’s absence. Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to read and interpret documents, math proficiency, cash handling, and the ability to drive to the bank. High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with 1 year retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience preferred
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
