Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager's direction, the ASST STORE MGR assists with supervising store employees, merchandising, paperwork and deposits, stocking and cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting assets. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store at least two days per week, assisting with scheduling and training, conducting safety meetings, ensuring planograms and merchandise presentation, maintaining inventory accuracy, enforcing cash-handling procedures, authorizing refunds/overrides, counting tills, and depositing money, and assisting in the Store Manager's absence. Qualifications emphasize effective communication, problem-solving, organization, ability to read safety and operation documents, cash handling, and supervisory experience; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; retail experience and supervisory experience encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and cash handling procedures
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
